Putting steering wheel lock plate back in - help
Anyone have any tricks for putting the steering wheel lock plate back in?
I pulled it apart to replace my ignition lock cylinder and now I am having a difficult time pushing the plate past the ridge to install the C clip/lock. That spring under it aint no joke or, I am losing my strength in with age! :sumo: |

There is a tool that compresses the plate to install the ring. Without that tool, its a nightmare to fight.

There is one or 2 wide splines on the shaft that needs to match the teeth on the plate.

Yup, there is a master spline. You need the tool, it pulls up on the shaft along with pushing down the plate

Thanks everyone... I wrestled it last night for about 30 min and 2 beers (beer strength) and could not get it in far enough to set the clip. I will check with my local parts store for the tool. Figures there is a special too for EVERYTHING.
Thanks!!! |
