1978 c20 camper special barn find 49k miles
 

i found this truck for my sister... 1978 c20 camper special with 49916 miles on it. its been parked since 1993. its an oklahoma truck so very little to no rust on it. basically battery box is rusted out. it has the original 350v8, th400, 14 bolt drivetrain in it. numbers matching truck. i will be helping my sister with this build. 100% original, unmolested truck. very rare these days.

I wish our trucks here were that solid after sitting for that many years. It is cool that this will be a family project. What are your (her) plans for it?

she wants to keep it all original, wanting to just freshen it up. new battery, new brakes, new tires, reseal the engine, new fluids, and then just drive it. it will be her winter vehicle.

minor update; the original owner/guy we got it from... found the original dealer paper tag from when it was new, along with the owners manual, and detailed dealers maintence log since new.

I know it's been a while, but really nice find (but I'd persuade her to go 4L80e, if
you haven't done so already)

Unfortunately, I think this is a dead thread. I'd love to see how they cleaned this truck up and brought it back into service too. This comment cracked me up though. No offense, the 4l80e is a good transmission and being that this truck is just a 350, unless they're putting a camper on it, the 4l60 would probably be just fine. But by the time the poster said things like complete, unmolested, original, for the fourth time, I doubt that a transmission swap is in the works, ha. Maybe he'll repost and prove me wrong though!
