I bought it! 1970 Suburban Needs alot.

After thinking about it and talking to the owner a few more times I decided to bite the buillit and pick it up. He was considering junking it because he didnt know what to do with the glass. After he pulled the engine and transmission this is what I ended up with. She is pretty rough but I think it would be a solid foundation.

These are a few photos I took walking around it before putting it in the barn. In the future, if i keep it, I've considered a 68 front clip so this clip would be sold. I have a few engine choices for it from a 454, to a 350, or a 250. My friend, Greg/BADSAM and I have come to an agreement on his part sub's glass so other than the hatch glass I think that covers it.

I'll have to make up my mind on it, but no rush.

Lots of photos below, If I keep it only for parts it was worth the price, but will I ever get to it? That's the real question!

Congrats on the purchase!

Good thing you located the glass already, the side glass is the most troublesome to find. While the windsheild and the rear hatch are easy to find, the rear glass is flat so getting one cut out is no big deal.

I'd leave the front clip on, stuff an engine/trans in and get it back together asap.

Get it complete, and driveable. Then figure out if you still want to keep it, and if you do then do your custom stuff. But if you decide to sell it, at least it would be complete and you'd have a better chance at recovering or making a profit on your money.

just my .02

I hope you get around to fixing it up. You see a million 67-72 trucks but never see the 67-72 burbs. Good luck, and keep us posted on any progress.

Glad you got it. If you decide you won't get to it, let me know so I can see about getting it shipped up here (just wait a bit so I can save up for it)

welcome to the burb side of the forum. i dont think its that rough, has the usual rust a lot of them already have. it actually looks pretty straight. looks about the same rust mine had lol. so if you keep it what direction would you go with it? bagged, lifted, resto..?

Thanks for the words of encouragement about the burb. this is actually my second run at suburban ownership. I had a lowerd 70 GMC a few years ago that had to go due to financial reasons. The body on this one is actualy better than the one I had.

Leaning more towards keeping it. Would love to bag it but most likely would be keeping it stock as far as stance goes at least until an engine is in and she is up and running.

Enjoyed your build thread, you are tackling some areas that many would be scared of, including me. I'll continue to follow it and gain motivation too. Someday would love to see it in person. I grew up in Sugarland and still go back for the parents and friends from time to time. My dad actualy still works in Rosenburg/Richmond area.

67mach1, I see you grew up in Sugarland. I live right next to there in Pearland. Next time you are going to be visiting the folks give me a ring. I have a 72 big block suburban, and my father in law has a 72 4x4 suburban. My dad also has a 72 big block suburban but he doesn't live in Pearland.

No, only the parts you wanted off of it were destroyed. Now if you would send me the title I'll haul off the hulk when the glass is pulled out. :sumo:

Well earlier I said next time you are in Sugarland to come on over and check out my burb. Now I know you already did!! Well still come on out and I will let you drive her. Maybe it will put a little added motivation to stay at it on yours.
