Electric choke to manual
 

So my 350/350th combo in my k10 has an electric choke i have no computer for it i understand that it is a one wire electric choke how do I wire it in without a computer? Or any suggestions on a new carb without electric choke for my 350?

What year of truck? What carb? To my knowledge none of the carburated trucks in the '80's had any sort of computer. Some had the ESC but I don't know that it had anything to do with the choke. If the choke has only 1 wire then all you should need to do is connect it to a fused ignition controlled 12V.

The electric choke (even on the computer-controlled Quadrajets) was not connected to any computer. It's about as simple as wiring gets - all you need is a +12v wire that's hot when the ignition is on. The choke is grounded through the carb body and heats up electrically. They're very dependable.

Why do you need a choke? I loved Canada for 2 years, drove a 78 Malibu with a 400 and never hooked up the choke. Got to -40 couple times, pumped it twice and fired up. Now wouldn’t stay running, but couple minutes of light revving and it stayed running.

A lot of the electric chokes also involve the oil sender to keep the choke from drawing power when there is zero oil pressure. One less thing to drain the battery when the motor isn't running.
