floor hump question

Ive never much given a thought to this before but I was cleaning up the unboltable floor section on the 4x4 I am building and it needs a good going over... Ive never don't much to the floors of the other vehicles ive done over the years except POR 15 them... would it be better to powder coat the bottom of this being ive taken it to metal most of the way because of some surface rust?

Re: floor hump question

If your down to bare metal I'd use epoxy primer on it

Re: floor hump question

epoxy prime over clean bare metal, then a good single stage or two stage automotive paint. I like a couple thin coats of epoxy primer, and even sometimes do a single layer of another primer(simple filler for imperfections), just to make sure there is a good base. and I go extra layers with the top coat, if its not some sort of metallic you are trying to match.

some guys truck line it, but that can go bad if there is a pinhole-water gets underneath and just rusts the floor away without you realizing it.

a lot of the Por 15/Zero-rust/Rust Bullet products do best only over rusted metal, and not great with clean metal.

Id just use the epoxy primer and then some paint...are you covering it up with carpet or rubber mats?
on the IH I sandblasted, then epoxy, and then sprayed mine with lizard skin,,,on top of that will be the insulating pad that came with the new rubber floormat

the top half on the inside of the truck is the original body color and in good shape. Im planning on putting down a dynomat equivalent and then I have an aftermarket carpet kit for it
