Would the stock bellhousing bolt up ?


Have a customer who is on the fence with this build...

Keep the stock sixer, or go V8

You would need a later V-8 bellhousing and then would have to replace the crossmember with one from a 54 Chevy pickup.

That is cast iron V8 truck bellhousing 55 to early 60's.

The stock crossmember can be used but you have to modify it a bit so the motor mounts on the V8 bellhousing will sit down on it right. With the 54 crossmember you just bolt it on. My 48 had a rather hack job modification done to it when I bought it with the 194 and V8 bellhousing in it.
