Has anyone undertaken the task of polishing an intake? ? And if so any tips?

lots of patience.....mini air sander too lol I polished the wheels on my VFR800. I was in about 3 days polishing(first time). From about 5 feet they looked great. To get that mirror finish, you'll be there a long time.....it may more cost/time efficient to send it out....Although, if that were the case we'd have no business here lol. If you take the challenge, don't start with the roughest paper, you'll only make more work for yourself trying to get the deep scratches out. Oh yes, dont forget to clearcoat it with something....if not, you will polishing the intake every time it gets wet.

id just glass bead it ! maybe then clear coat it ?? look at some guys that have aluminum bike heads blasted ! i think they look good ?? polishing sucks and its hard to keep it nice ??

From experience, I'd say clean it and stop. Do you want to redo the polishing every year? No.
Maybe chuck up some scotchbrite and meet halfway.

yep very labor intensive and high maintenance.

A debt of gratitude is in order for the accommodating string. I am likewise looking the aluminum polish at a modest cost. Would you as of now purchase a decent one, at that point please recommend me a best one under $100.

lots of information out there on polishing aluminium, including video of intakes being polished by edelbrock employees.... . one rule that is universal is to wear some sort of eye and resperatory protection.

A buddy of mine has a small sand blaster and blasted it smooth for me to get all the stains off and grime. Came out smooth. I taped it off with gorilla tape and it help up to it. Then a coat of high temp primer and high temp aluminum color. Looks dang good. To me anyway.
First pic is after the sand blasting which was a night and day change from all the dark stains in the aluminum. Second is after a coat of the high temp paint. It looks way better in person. My goal was to only prolong the staining and grime that builds up on the rough texture.
