engine mount location

well got the small block set in today in my 65 c10 and realized i have 8in gap between fan and radiator and the shifter fro the saginaw trans is under the seat and this is with the mounts in the rear holes my question is if i move it to the front holes that will give me around 4inches closer the the radiator and get my shifter where i can use it is there and harm in this besides shortening the clutch rod

Re: engine mount location

You'll need to mount the z-bar further ahead on the frame, not shorten the clutch rod.
The position of the pivot ball on the motor will move forward.

Re: engine mount location

Depending on what you run for headers, you might think about using the pivot ball & bracket assy. on the block(67-72 with small block). This will put the pivot ball in between the 2 locations. Adjust the fore/aft on the bellcrank as needed. You just need to clear the header tubes:chevy: crazyL

If you want to move your engine to the forward location, you will need the '67-'72 small block motor mount brackets. I would also consider the '67-'72 clutch linkage as crazyL suggested.

I have not been into the 63-66 trucks, as far as swaps...(67- 72, big time). If you have any ? Captainfab can sure give you the "square up" on your truck;) Anything that you need to fabricate, you can do with a welder. a torch & an imagination. If you can, post up some pics....best of all, have fun:chevy: crazyL
