Classic Parts 4x4 sbc fanshroud any good?

Is the 4x4 sbc reproduction fan shroud sold by Classic Parts (Chevy Duty) any good? They want 140 plus about 15 on shipping. BUT is it any good?

I got one from either Classic or brothers. It is nice, perfect fit and solid. I've had it a couple years at least. I can check where I got it tomorrow if you like. I got the clutch fan from Classic for sure. I was sick of the noise. No broken shroud and proper clutch fan got rid of a lot of noise.... so nice! But you can never find the 4x4 version clips for the bottom of the shroud.

I looked up my orders. I got the shroud from LMC truck for $59 back on 12/16. I got the fan from Classic in Ca. The shroud fit great and is a nice replacement. Looks like I went with lowest price or maybe I got a recommendation, but most likely it was the price. Anyhow, I am happy with it. I did compare it to the original and it looked to be of stout quality. But to tell you the truth, it was one of those items I put in and forgot about.... no issues... unlike a lot of the after market stuff I've been getting.

Regarding the clip. the 4x4 clip at the bottom offsets out farther. When you order a clip it's for a 2x, not the same! So keep your old clips. One of my clips is broke. I need to make a tab. :chevy:

Sine I'm sitting at my desk here's a pic of engine with the said shroud. And if you are skeptical of the LMC, believe me, I understand. I can put a caliper to it tomorrow if you like. There must have been a good reason for me to get it from LMC, I just don't remember.

my lower and upper hardware retaining clips appear the same. I wonder if the corvette guy's carry them.

In the factory assembly guide it shows the "J" nuts like those in the picture above. But there is one image of a "clip" like what you may be describing. I have seen them often on mid 70's pontiacs And possibly the same part (#243027) in the Corvette Central 's C3 catolog . they call it a "fan shroud lower clip to radiator support" for '76- early '78's

That part number looks similar to what I remember. I will get a pic of my clip tomorrow and post it.

I bought a 4x4 fan shroud from classic parts....140 plus an extra 15 for shipping, Then I paid 54 dollars more to return it. It was not what was described to me. It needed too much fab work to get it to fit only marginally correct. Plus... now , rather than refund my money I only get a credit.

so decide for your self and bare in mind the hidded extra cost of doing business..... It works both ways becuase I have spent alot of money with them, so.... nuff said

Sorry to hear your grief! I swear at these companies all the time. I've probably sworn not to do business with all of them at one point or another. It's why I wrote above, I can't remember why I got the shroud from LMC and the fan from classic. Sucks! :chevy:
