Ordered a CPP Grand Slam Kit.

So I just ordered a CPP Grand Slam kit through Summit Racing. Part number 6770GSK-6D. Just under $1300.00 with free shipping. Is that a good price? Seemed to be the cheapest I could find online. Summit said it wont ship until 8/8. Seems like a long time.

Ive read mixed reviews about CPP on here. I hope this doesn't turn into a nightmare.

I needed to convert to front disc any way and wanted a drop later down the road but I don't like buying parts twice.

This seems like a really big project. I hope I can handle it. Im no mechanic by any means but I know how to turn a wrench. Lol.

Anyone have any pics of this kit installed?

Any tips or suggestions would be great.

Used to be a board member that was on some I think his user name was Raguemoe. He had a beautiful original 67 or 68 white short bed with the grand slam kit and a set of intro billet wheels. As far as doing the lowering yourself it's all in what you're comfortable doing, should be pretty straight forward. Keep us updated and take pics.

Congrats! That is a good day my friend. Luckily you are putting all new stuff in so your hardest part is going to be removing all the original equipment. I would just take your time and make sure to post pics as you go.

Thanks guys. Im sure Ill be asking lots of questions. On CPP's website, it says to let them know how much drop you want but Summit Racing didn't mention anything about that at checkout. What do I do now? And how much drop do I want if given a choice? 2.5/4, 3/5, 4/6? I have no clue. I don't want it too low but I don't want it to look its not lowered either.

Do I have to buy the brake line kit too?

Are you talking about the rubber brake lines that go to the calipers? If so I would definitely replace those.

No. Those come with it.

You will need to call summit and specify which kit you want or they will send you a random kit and you will be disapointed.

Ok. Thanks. I'll do that.

Re: Ordered a CPP Grand Slam Kit.

Front look lower? Lol. Im getting there. Got the spindles, calipers, rotors, tie rods, coil springs, shocks, ball joints, brake lines and power booster on.

Now I got install the master cylinder (already bench bled), plumb lines to the prop valve, drill a hole an inch lower on brake pedal, bleed brakes, install vacuum fitting on intake for power booster, THEN start on the back.

After the back is done, I'll need front and rear end alignments. I cant wait for this to be over with.

Well it's done. Just got to get the brakes bled and a front end alignment.

Does it look 2.5" lower in front and 4" lower in back? Kinda hard to tell but it's definitely lower.

Well I got the brakes bled but I'm not getting any power brakes. Feels just like it did when I had drums and can't even lock them up. Just come to a slow stop.

Do you have a soft pedal that goes all the way to the floor?

No. Hard pedal.

I'm certainly no expert on brakes, you may have to post in the Suspension section and see if you can get someone to help you with the troubleshooting.

Will do. Thanks.

Re: Ordered a CPP Grand Slam Kit.

Awesome job with the lowering!:metal: As far as your brake issue, if you have brakes, but no power brakes, then the power booster could likely be your problem. Do you have adequate vacuum running to it? Also, there could be a leak and your booster is defective.

Re: Ordered a CPP Grand Slam Kit.

Thanks. I started another thread in the suspension section. Cpp told me how to test the booster and it's fine.
