Front brake caliper orientation
 

I believe these are on upside down, from what I understand the bleeder should be up. Does anybody know if I can swap the line with the bleeder or do I need to swap sides? These came attached to the spindles this way, heck maybe its okay.

You are right, it's wrong the way it is now. Switch sides and you'll be fine

Yep, you will get air pockets in the top, been there....

Thanks, you know you look at something then you go "wait, what the heck!" that was my moment while working on the bottom of my truck. These had been on for a while as I built out the break lines, bleed them, trouble shot other issues with the brakes, then I was looking and the light bulb blinked on. Guess I get to bleed the fronts one more time, the wife will be so excited to be a pedal pusher again.

check out the one man bleeder, time and wife saver. the less they see inside your shop the better, haha.
hose goes into container with brake fluid in it so hose sits on bottom of the container, other end of hose fits snuggly over the bleeder screw. put some fluid in the container so the hose is covered, say 1/2" deep. open the screw and pump the brakes slowly yourself. clear tubing works the best because you can see if there are bubbles in the line still. don't open the bleeder screw too much or it can/will suck air in around the bleeder screw threads.
you tube it. works great. you can make one with an old soda bottle. the lid needs to have a vent though as well as the hole the tube goes into.

The front end kit came from TCI, with the brakes. I believe I found them in the CPP catalog as the “big brake”.
Capilers are swapped and bleed, done now on to other issues.

Found them in CPP universal catalog. Big Bore Metric CP412526.

looks like 86 monte carlo front caliper
gm used them on 733 vehicles according to autozone fitment chart
pretty much any 82 to 89 gm vehicle
chevy used them on s10, camaro, monte, malibu, elco and postal vehicles
looks the same as what's on my fatman mustII

GM really liked to keep using the same parts over and over huh.

Is this one of those calipers that works with the bare bones disc conversion kits? The ones that only supply brackets and bolts and you need to find your own calipers and rotors?

I just recently went through and replaced most of the brake system on a 49 GMC someone else had built many moons ago. I spent more time researching the components than actually doing the repairs. If the builder made notes I didn't get them....
The comment about GM providing the basis for most of the calipers for these aftermarket kits definitely rings true in my case.

I used calipers spec'ed for a 79 C10 as well as the flex lines and they bolted right up.
Only thing is, to keep the bleeders on the top side when mounted, the calipers had to be swapped, i.e. the "R" labeled caliper is mounted on the left and the "L" labeled caliper is mounted on the right.
They work pretty good considering they're controlled by a firewall mounted 75 Pinto dual diaphragm power booster, master cyl and combo valve......

Johnny Cash would be proud LOL.

I'd believe he got it with a CPP kit. I asked because they had a nice smooth look to them rather than the rough cast look of the stock units.
