Original wheel and tire size
 

What is the original size for the tire and wheels on my 67 c10 truck? I have been thumbing through my books looking for the info.

You might check the glovebox sticker. If it's still there, it will state the rim size and tire style. Almost always a bias ply type. My '68 came ordered with 7 x 17.5 6-plys.

sunshine, that is only true wih optional wheels and tires.
I can't remember what the size is, but I'll look it up this evening if no one else answers. (I'm about to head out for work right now)

:) recently purchased a set of 4 original wheels off of a 67 GMC half ton and they are 15 X 5 1/2 inch. the original wheels off of my 68 chevy c 10 are 15 X 6.

also,,,,they would have had size 7.75 15 (P205 75R15) or 8.25 15 (P215 75R15) tires. go to http://www.turbinecar.com/tires.htm for a nice, easy to read tire cross reference chart. hope this info helps, jim:)

also again,,,Longhorn Man is correct,,,if vehicles were installed with standard wheels, wheel size was not listed on optional equipment sticker on glove box door.

I just need to know what will fit on my stock truck. I will be doing a slight rake in it soon and plan on putting as tall as I can get away with and some added meat in the back.

Funny how people say the bone stock look is boring... on the contrary, bone stock restorations are so few and far between that they're more unique and "original" than most custom trucks, IMO.

Are you sure you don't wanna put a fiberglass hood with a big scoop on your truck..?? how about a tube grille..???

Great truck! I working on mine and having trouble finding tires. I pm'd you about yours. Anyone else know who has a 225/75/15 Blackwall tire? I have only found one(goodyear wrangler) but at $125.00 there too exspensive!

To me, there s just something about a pure bone stock vehicle that has been unmolested and preserved. It would be real easy to put mag wheels and fat tires on this one but can t do it. I like and appreciate the modified ones too but just favor the originals and feel that down the road they ll become more desirable. Thanks for the comments :)

Jim, is that code 503 light green color? That is what is listed on the options tag on my '68, and I can see some of the original paint underneath the black it is now and it looks like yours (only a lot flatter and faded). Where did you get the paint for yours and how do you like the quality? I would prefer to just paint it black but my mom seems to love this color and said she would buy the paint if I painted it the light green.

That s correct,,,,503 GM "light green". (They actually gave it a normal name!) I used PPG single stage urethane which at the time (2 years ago) was $150.00 per gallon. I believe its about $187.00 now. The whole truck took 3 gallons. I m happy with the product. :) Happy painting!!
