Worked on the front cross member tonight. I cut the pedistals down and fit them in the frame.

With the curve of the frame the square body crossmember I had to bend it down and weld a 1/8" piece to the bottom and then I will re drill the 7/16" hole.

Welded up now to bust out the grinder to grind down the excess. But I forgot to take a picture after the test fit. I will tomorrow. I took off a couple days so I can work on it a little.
I also got a 12 bolt to rebuild. I think I am going to put rear disc brakes on it. Starting with captainfabs brackets with e brake setup.

Just a little fun picture. The frame will be about 8" higher.

Put the front axle under the frame to see how the front end lines up. One thing I noticed was that the sway bar was towards the front of the frame more on the pass side. The mounts on the front crossmember I installed are square. Do you think it is a problem ? It's like 3/8"-1/2" off or 1/4" per side. The axle has to be right because of the leaf spring bolts.

I ordered a set of SS brake line from suspension connection when I ordered the lift. The block that mounts to the caliper is at an angle. Any ideas?

I even turned the block over.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

The hose should be mounted like the last picture, the hose does angle away from the caliper normally. That said i'd almost think that the block was squished somehow before that hose was assembled, all my hoses have blocks that are straight and true, but if the sealing surfaces and the hole are machined true and perpendicular than it should be ok.

I got my braided stainless hosed from ORD.

Swamp
I just got off the phone with suspension connection they are going to send me out another pair as they and I think the were not machined correctly. I should have them by Monday the latest....not that they are holding me up.

One more thing, when you install you want your axle to be free hanging on the springs to be sure the line will still have a little slack in it, also turn the steering side to side when you check.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

yes definitely will do that. The lines are for 6" lift and the lift I have is 4". so I should be ok, but I will check

Got something from the brown truck guys. Off-road Designs rear shackle flip kit, steering box brace, & new curved u bolts to replace the old square type.
Dwilbur said his brace didn't fit his style frame so guess what it didn't fit mine either. I had some 1/4" thick washers so I used 2. I mocked it up before I painted it but my phone went dead so no pictures till the final install

I did have to clearance the sway bar bracket I installed because it hit the steering box bracket.

Look what I came across....a 72 gmc a/c cab from a super camper. Has both doors, one is good one is trash. Has some drip well rust and rockers but floor and cab corners look good. Will have it blasted and then we will see if it is worth keeping.

Thanks Lance. The mechanical stuff is easy for me. Welding etc. but the body work? That is another story. This cab will need some work on the drop wells. The cowl vents and rocker will be pretty routine. Going to finish up the frame and get it into a roller then move the cab inside.
