1950 3100 / 1985 k20 frankentruk

My sons first truck. We are putting a 50 body on a 85k20 4x4 frame. Anyone out there done this? Rough measurements look good but I'd like to see a "map" so to speak. 350 small block th400 dana44 front corp9.5 rear axle.

Closest I can do for you is my 50 on a 72 2wd C10. SBC with an automotive 3-speed.

With all the work I'm doing to it, I should have started with a new chassis. A PO in its past did the original build and messed just about everything up.

LMK if I can help.

A search in the build threads will turn up a couple that are doing the same. Because the later frames are not level front to back like the old ones you will have issues with cab height and the bed floor. Not as critical if you are going 4wd. Also even stock the AD trucks are known for being difficult to get the radiator support/hood/cab and fenders to align. You will need to deal with that on a totally different frame. Not impossible by any means but will take a lot of attention to detail and time. I think you have to relocate the rear axle to get it to center in the wheel well too by offsetting or modifiying the spring pads. Hopefully you got the whole truck, I went thru two donors to get everything I needed for mine. I also assume you are ok with the wheels and tires sticking out beyond the fenders, the AD bodies are narrower than the new trucks. Good luck on the father son project.

I have a question for the group. Any one have a short box 4wd with a 4" lift?. I've shortened the frame 14" so the driveshaft needs to be shortened.

I'm looking for the rear driveshaft length. I'd like to get some measurements to get the general length.
