67-72 Bench seat lowering brackets ??

Hello. Before I chop and fab my original bench seat brackets does anyone make lowering brackets for a 67-72 factory bench. I need more head-room.

Thx Steve

Yes they do. Full Custom Fabrication makes them. I know a few guys on the forum have used these already. The ones shown in the link are their original design. The new brackets are solid and have FCF laser cut into them.

Do you gain more room between the steering wheel and the driver when you lower the seat?

Yes it does. I am 6’3” and definitely worth the money.

I have the FCF brackets. I love the way it sits, now! I'm 6'4", and the driving position is so much better!!

A good piece of advice, install the bolts from underneath to create a "stud" so the brackets just slips over it, then install a washer and nut. Much easier than trying to wiggle a bolt in place through the floor.

Those that have installed these... my issue is legroom... do you gain or lose any? I have almost no headroom after installing new seat foam. I really like how comfy the seat is now, but on a good enough bump, I've bumped my head on the cab roof. If I can lower the seat and not loose leg room that sounds like a fantastic plan to me.

Awesome, now I can install my headliner without my head being in the way.

Does anyone know if these brackets will work on the popular 88-90 seats??

Jesse, I'm 6'4" 295lbs. My seat was always comfortable, but sat too high. These brackets don't really increase leg room, but put your torso in a better position so your legs will bend in a more comfortable and controlled way. If there's a downside, as the seat lowers, it also moves forward slightly, so puts you closer to the wheel, but it's not uncomfortable or awkward. If we can ever meet up, you're more than welcome to sit in the truck and maybe even take it for a short drive to see how mine feels before ordering a set.

Oh lawdy, don't tempt me, I'd make a weekend trip out of it! :burnout:

Are you doing any of the Power Tour next month? It's in our neck of the woods almost the whole drive.

Come on down!!

No plans for Power Tour. It conflicts with my wife's vacation time.

Do you have an after shot of the height? Are you happy with them? I installed PUI foams and now sit way too high. Either going to buy these or cut down my seat brackets. Other option is to cut my foams but that would be a pain since the seat is done.

I’m interested in this also.

I bought a set as well. Not installed yet, but they appear to be very nicely made with a good quality finish on them.

Almost a shame you won't be able to see them.

I will post these pics on both threads to hopefully help. In one pic, (the best I have) you can see the top of my seat right to the real window rubber - and with brackets installed, the amount the seat has dropped overall. I'm afraid I forgot this morning to measure clearance under the seat for sub-woofer installation, but still can.

Thanks for showing that photo. That looks like a big difference! I am guessing I may still need to cut my foams. If you notice in my picture, the back foam curve does not meet the seam on the seat cover. I noticed this when I was assembling the seat but must have been in denial figuring it would be OK. But when I sit in the seat I feel like I am being pushed forward as well as pushed up.
BTW nice truck!

Re: 67-72 Bench seat lowering brackets ??

Yes, I see. I want to look as well at the mounting. The bracket bases have a slotted hole, and I feel like the seat had to be in the forward end of the slot, pushing it just slightly more forward, but I will check.

Re: 67-72 Bench seat lowering brackets ??

I'm tempted to go buy some C-channel or square tubing and weld a cross piece as a trial to see the height as well as seeing if I feel like I'm sitting on the floor.
