67 C10 step side exhaust ideas

I'm in the middle of finishing up my 67 C10 step side and am trying to figure the best route to plumb the exhaust. I'm running 3" pipe all the way back and thinking of running the exhaust through the rear quarter panel either just before or after the tire. Do any of you guys have any pics of yours that I could see for ideas?

Those are the best pics I have at the moment. I have 2.5” pipes that kick out at roughly 30 degrees, then I have a SS exhaust tip that is cut off at 45degrees so it’s flush with the bottom of the step on each side of the truck. The tip is 3”

Original 1967 stepper. Dual exhaust is at least 20 years old. Hope this helps.

68Stepbed. I like this set up. What size pipe are you using? I want to run 3" all the way back and right behind the tires would be just right if 3" will fit okay.

IMO, you will be much happier all the way around if you run a 2 1/2" system rather than a 3". Cost is WAY higher for the 3" and much more difficult to route. If you are making 600hp and need it then I guess... But I'm planning a 2 1/2" system behind my 450hp 427.

I too am a "run it out the back" guy. On my leaf spring truck I cut holes in the crossmember where the trailing arms would bolt and I welded in 4" pipe reinforcements and will tuck and run my exhaust as high as possible.

I agree with Mike C about sizing. I ran mine out Zoomie style on my Burban to keep the exhaust out of the interior. My rear hatches barely keep water out let alone fumes. Sorry about the poor photos

Mine is 2.5" pipe. I have a 530hp LS1 and these breathe very well. As Mike C mentioned, 3" is overkill unless you're making above 600hp. That said, 3" is difficult to route to the back, but it's possible for someone that knows what they're doing. My TCI rear suspension created an even more complicated routing scenario than stock suspension, so the stainless mandrel bent setup was the only way to go.

The best part is the exhaust is tucked and isn't seen at all.

68Stepbed. That is exactly what I want. Nothing hanging down at all. Nice looking truck!

I assume his TCI suspension has clearances for the pipes through the center crossmember. I know the drop-members are made that way. Here is my mods to my truck. Leaf springs make it easier...

And these made me chuckle. The pieces I cut out pretty much were Pacmen.
