Problems after some front end work
Not having good luck here. '64 c10, what ive done ECE disk brake swap with drop spindles & 1.5in drop springs, went ahead and changed upper & lower ball joints while it was apart. My problems, loud squeeling when going down the road, when turning both ways it feels like the wheel/tire is flopping around . Breaks work good:metal:. Jacked it up & removed wheels twice and everything looks ok. Tried shaking wheels while it was on jack stands, everything feels tight. Wheels spin free while jacked up, not dragging. Any ideas what to look for next? Im all out of ideas.. Thanks

Re: Problems after some front end work
Ball joints and outer tie rods are fit in the new drop spindle just like they fit in the old one? Can you see any rub marks from the squealing?

Re: Problems after some front end work
Yep. went back together just like it came apart. Cant see any marks from the rubbing anywhere. It sounds awful, like a very loud dull metal on metal sound. Im pretty sure i packed all my bearings good. Followed ECE instructions on seating the bearings. Im scared to drive it too much, i dont want to tear a spindle or something up.

Re: Problems after some front end work
Factory wheels? Check for wear marks on the wheels. Sounds like maybe they're making contact against the calipers.

Post number 6 looks like maybe the dust shield is touching the inside surface of the rotor. I looked under the caliper and it seems very close, but not sure!!

Re: Problems after some front end work
update. removed dust shields and checked everything out, cant see anything noticeable. put back together without dust shields and still making noise. just does it when it get around 15mph or over then goes away when it slows back down. I did figure out the other problem, old bad outer tie rod end about to come apart feels like. Any more ideas before I haul it to town and let some shop look at it?

Re: Problems after some front end work
Post 6 again, stainless brake line looks like it loops up high. Does it rub the inside of the tire?? Look for witness marks.

Re: Problems after some front end work
Put it on stands and spin the tire as fast as you can 1 side at a time, sure everything got packed with grease correctly?
