Have you had time to measure head temp, verify t-stat opening, etc?

You probably know this.
Clutch fans always have some slippage.
Some mfg specify slippage of std duty vs hd etc.
If you could temporarily install large mechanical fan w/ at least 5 blades and good pitch heat transfer will improve.
I didn't notice if your radiator has new core?
My small radiator was modified from 2 row to 3 row.
I didn't notice if you removed coolant plugs on either side of block for proper flush.
On one car I put an elec fan on front of radiator to assist mechanical fan.

Radiator is a fairly new 3 row, very clean when I emptied it.

I thought about a pusher fan, but the hood latch assembly is only about an inch from the condenser and it's right down the middle.

You want to talk about pissed? The rain didn't help either. I worked 8-12 hour days at work, and then another 3-4+ in the garage every night, plus weekends, and I got it done, I was done on Monday... I couldn't bring it with it overheating, too risky for that many miles! I got my Taurus 2 speed fan and my super expensive bad ass controller should be here in a day or two!

I started an awesome new job on July 1st, so I've been a little busy.

About the overheating... Yes and no...

Brian of DC Controls pissed me off. I ordered a 2SP controller from him, same one I ordered for my S10 years ago that worked awesome. I sold the S10. I wish I had yanked the controller and put the clutch fan back on!

Anyway, I know he's a one man operation and busy... so I waited 3 weeks after I placed my order and sent a polite email asking for an approximate time. No response. Waited two more weeks and sent a similar email, again polite, but did state that I would be forced to file a paypal dispute before my 45 days was up, clearly stating ALL I WANTED was an update that he knows I paid and I will get my controller, I even mentioned if it took a month more it would be fine, just let me know it's coming. No response.

Filed a paypal dispute, clearly stating in the dispute I would drop it if he would just contact me to let me know my controller was coming. No response. I got a refund about a week later with no response/explanation from him.

Asshat. That's not how you run a business. I found a new guy that claims to be just as good/better as brains controllers and I hope to get it soon!

But to answer your initial question... kinda. I bought a new rebuilt distributor. When I removed the old one someone had done some "work" to it and one of the springs was too large for the weight, as in, the weight could almost fully open before the spring even got tension on it. I experimented with timing a bunch and from the V-M board they suggested manifold vacuum instead of ported, and I stuffed pipe insulation between the radiator/core support and condenser/core support openings and after all that, I got it to where it would only get up to about 210 in traffic with the A/C. Now remember, it has NOT ben all that hot this year, it's only been hitting low to mid 80s so I still need a more permanent fix (cross fingers on new fan controller!) but I got it so it's been drivable. Even took it to Clemson and back last weekend and it's been to a few shows.

I moved much closer to having the interior done. I finished the rear 3 point seatbelt install, rebuilt both back window with new rollers and greased everything really well. It's all back together.

...and kinda started on finishing up the dash. I got one of the vents painted and on. Gauges are painted/hooked up and on.

Once it's all in, it's coming apart for paint. The dash looks like crap. I think it was the only part of the car that was never repainted and it really shows.

...and I've been going back and forth back and forth on wheels... I'm usually pretty decisive when it comes to things, but wheel choices are VERY LIMITED on 65/66 Mustangs UNLESS you want to roll the fenders.

Based on my research 4" BS on 7's and 4.5" on 8's will just barely clear depending on tire, and some people still rolled their front fenders due to a slight rub. The 67's up are fine because they're a bit wider, but the 65/66's will rub. Even the wheels on my car now rub a tiny bit, mostly because the tires are way too fat for the rims (were on the car when I bought it.)

The vast majority of aftermarket wheels use the BS's above. I actually called and talked with the showwheels people in California. The 5x4.5" lug pattern wheels were actually specifically designed for the 65/66 mustangs. The BS is 4.25 and 4.75 for the 7 and 8 inch wheels, respectively. I know it's only a 1/4" but that's the difference between a slight rub and no rub at all.

Then my next problem was color. I liked the anthracite, but didn't think gray would look good on a cream colored car. So those were out. The car on page two of this thread is what really pushed me to black (that and they were about $15 less per wheel than the polished... and I don't like polishing stuff anyway...) So this is what I hope to have at my door on Thursday.

*Also* I do hate that it has the damn showwheels crap engraved on the spoke, but I think once they're on the car, it won't be all that noticeable.

I went with 17x7 fronts and 17x8 rears for $596 shipped to my door with caps and lug nuts from Ronsrims1 off of fleabay. The showwheels guy in cali was going to "give me a great deal" at $728 without lug nuts, and JD wheels had them for around $656 with caps and lugs shipped to me. The showwheels guy was great, gave me a lot of good info, but I don't get why his price was over $130 more without lug nuts than what one of his distributors sell them for? I definitely wasn't getting the wholesaler price :lol:

Thanks! I think they will. Now I've got to pick our the right tires! Front will be 215/225 45/17 and back will be 225-245 45 17, been looking at a bunch of pics, may be 215 front and 235 rear.

Everything is looking great man! Love those rims :).... Im in the same boat even though I have a 67. Had to use spacers for the Bullitt style rims and i have to get tires on them. Im probably going to go 225/45 in the front and 245/45 in the rear.

225/245 seems to be the most common combo. That would be a +/- 25" tire in the front and +/-25.5" tire in the back. Are your rims all the same width?
