which gear box and power steering pump? Hybrid C10

I am working on a 67 C10 for my wife and it has 83 C10 front crossmember with control arms, steering linkage parts and brakes etc from 83 C10.

So I am wondering do I go with a 83 C10 gear box?

Also what about power steering pump since motor is 78 and have the 67 pulleys to give it old school look she wants on it.

Thanks for any advice guys!

Re: which gear box and power steering pump? Hybrid C10

I used a 1985 c10 gearbox in my 68 ls swap. The box should be a 3 1/2 turns lock to lock and variable ratio. My favorite gearbox. Use all linkages from the 80's donor. If you can get the fitting from the back of the 80's pump then you can use the pump fittings, lines and gearbox as a complete assembly. The 80's lines should be o'ring style fittings. Also get the coupler (rag joint) from the 80's to match box to column intermediate shaft.

Does your frame have the recessed area for the steering box?? I remember something about 67 and older needed to be modified for a power steering larger box.

Good luck!!

The fitting in the back of the pump is what the power steering line threads into. 2 styles, o'ring style on newer pumps and inverted flare (like a brake line fitting) on the earlier pumps. Pay attention as a spool valve and spring can fall out. You only need the fitting, just don't loose the other parts.
