Re: o2 senor question
What year truck? Does it run on a computer chip or is it a tuneable computer setup?

Re: o2 senor question
It's a 1993 TBI 350 engine

Re: o2 senor question
If it's stock it should only have 1 cat and 1 sensor. You might need to have a custom computer setup. If you are trying to improve gas mileage, you won't see any except a higher bill for the deleting.

Re: o2 senor question
You might have false oxygen sensor readings.
The cat will have a small amount of back pressure. That will keep some heat in the exhaust for proper oxygen sensor readings. If you remove the cat, it will let the exhaust escape faster, and the heat will not stay in the pipe long enough to keep the sensor at the correct temp. You can correct all of that by using a heated oxygen sensor. |
Re: o2 senor question
+1 on a heated o2 sensor.

Re: o2 senor question
have you had it scanned yet for the code? if I remember right you can take a paper clip to do this at home. But its been a while.

Re: o2 senor question
On my old '93 C1500 with 350 TBI, I had the cat deleted. It never showed a check engine light. I know I personally didn't do anything to remove codes, & I don't recall the shop that did the cat-delete doing anything either.:uhmk: Made it a little louder, but it didn't hurt performance or gas mileage at all in my case.

There is none
After Cat O2 sensors did not come along till 1996 with the advent of OBDII.
So hack away. If anyone wants to know you get rear O2 simulators that connect in parallel to the O2 sensors to make the ECM think they are working. I used them for years until I had them programmed out. |
