Paint ideas

Ok. If you have a truck like mine, you probably have or had paint like mine.

I dont want to strip and paint this truck to make it look like new. I want to go with a low buck rat rod look. Maybe a nice patina?

Have you done this? If so, so me what you did..

Thanks

I like that idea. Now to keep this a low buck project, the bottom of the sides of the truck are maroon. I was going to leave that paint alone because its still in good shape. That leaves me with the idea of maroon rally stripes.

Any photoshoppers out there to paint on some stripes?

I'd go along with that motion, as long as it doesn't involve cutting entitlements or raising our taxes and our soldiers and Social Security recipients get their money.

I'm not impressed with these trucks if the paint job uses the word "patina". I've seen waaaaaaay too many of them that are like yours...with the flaky paint and the resulting rusty "patina". I've seen body shops take a razor blade and remove the offending paint, from the primer base.....too many times. Oh, seems it was a plastic blade, not a Gillette.Could be wrong...have been before.

One plan I was looking at was using white POR15 as a base coat and go from there. I know most use it for primers or frames, but it comes in several colors and white is one of them. I think its a gloss too.

If the white is like the black UV will destroy it.
If it were me I would consider doing the whole thing in flat black.
