S 10 torque converter

I am preparing to do a motor swap on my 91 Sport truck . I read on a TBI website that a S=10 V6 converter could be used in my 700r4 with the lock up and move the stall up just a bit . I am wondering if anybody has any experience with this swap and how "loose" these converters are in a full size .

Re: S 10 torque converter

A 4.3L 700R4 converter is "around" a 1800-2000 stall coverter V.S. a 1400 to 1600 stall on a 5.0/5.7 700R4 converter. Its not to loose for a stock V8. Stall RPMs change with the weight, power & gearing of the vehicle.

That is kinda what im looking for . Truck has a 3.08 gear , but the new motor will have a 94 Z28 roller cam So i need the lock up , but not a tight converter . Wonder how they hold up to a load .

A LT1 cam is a good low-end torque maker....right at home with a "tight converter" LT4 HOT cams like 2500-2800 stall converters.
