Rear Cab Mounts

Do any of you guys that have a stock frame make your own stationary mounts? I have the shackle mounts but I feel like having a stationary mount would make the truck feel more planted. Or am I wrong and the shackle mounts were meant for a smoother ride? 1952 3100 (For Reference)

I'd say if you boxed the frame making some brackets for a more solid mount would be fine but i it is a totally stock frame that isn't stiffened you might want the shackles. Riveted stock ladder frames with leaf spring suspension were designed to flex and move a bit where now we build stiff frames with suspension that does all of the moving.

Those of us who grew in the 50's riding in the back of AD trucks or other trucks from that period learned real quick not to put our fingers between the cab and the bed to hang on over rough spots or our fingers got pinched because the frame of the truck flexed.

Ill probably end up boxing the frame. It will also have a 4 link and air ride if that makes a difference.

Panel trucks had solid mounts at that location. My panel has a pickup frame so I removed the shackle mounts and fab'ed some solid mounts:

every set of shackles I ever have taken off has been ruined from ~70 years under the truck. I know some guys rebuild them but if that is your option and yours need rebushed, a mount like miracle shows is the ticket.

Wow that mount looks Bad A$$ Miracle. I hope you don't mind me copying it!!
I bought a shackle rebuild kit a long time ago but I feel like solid mounts would be better.
