67 Ramp got a tilt
5 Attachment(s)
I finally got around to installing the tilt column into the ramp today.
A friend let me barrow his shop to do the work. I got all the old steering column out and the newer tilt installed with 2 minor problems but hopefully tomorrow they will be covered. I forgot to order a turn signal cam for it and the column rubber boot for the fire wall. I got to order them. I took the old out and installed the tilt to get my measurements then I cut the DD to fit. Was simple enough. reinstalled the rag joint then slid the column in and tightened down the union and then put all the inside pieces back.:chevy: |

I used a chop saw to cut the DD off with then cleaned it up good and it slid right in. I didn't crush the pin's either and moved the wheel about a inch are so closer to the dash. I could go further but it didn't feel right but I can always move it later.
I just put the wheel back on to see how it felt until I get the turn signal cam. In another post which I had forgotten who posted it I remembered it when I hooked up the wiring harness to the column and the horn started blowing. I fixed it with a small piece of paper. I also took the turn signal lever and put t in the vise and bent it straight out.:chevy: |
Re: 67 Ramp got a tilt
What did you use to fill the hole where the shifter was? I'm getting ready to do the same thing on a four speed truck.
Thanks, Bill |

I used plumbers roll to fill the holes and sanded it down. It dries hard and is sandable after 24 hrs of drying.:chevy: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=760936 |
