1968 Longbed Stepside
 

So a buddy of mine is looking for a stepside to get into and working on. We came across this one, we might go look at it this weekend. It looks like it has the usual rust in the rockers and cab corners, but is is wort the price? Let me know what you guys think! According to the guy it only has 15,000 original miles on it.

Seems a little high to me and by viewing the pedals and such I doubt it is 15,000 original miles in fact I am 100% sure it is not. For me personally I would say about half of what he is asking would be more fair seeing the body is pretty beat up. :chevy:

I look at it like this. How much time and effort will you spend to repair the rust. And how much more do you need to spend to not replace rusted body parts, and it's always worse than it looks at first inspection. Plus, 15k miles. I'm a skeptic on that one.

Nice truck, you could probably get it for 2k-2.5k. Remember the bucks are going to go down the drain quick on a project. So, two years from now the price of the vehicle won't compare to what you've got into it. Ask me how I know! And mine hardly has any rust, and I still hardly have time to do everything I want. For me bucks are not the big issue(though I like a deal a much a the next guy) it's time. Keeping up on repairs and making upgrades. I need more time.... can I borrow some time? :mm:

Her body is pretty beat up and that's just from what we can see. Have a look at the price for repop stepside fenders, the fact it needs brake lines, etc and the price starts looking less and less appealing. Plus it has all the hallmark delusions and distractions in the ad, 15k? the odometer has obviously rolled over but let's call it a barn find farm truck and point out the original paperwork but not show the passenger side or rear of the truck. I'd hold firm at $1500, no more than $2000.

I saw that one on CL last night. I think it's grossly overpriced also.

I do like stepsides, long wheel bases, 3OTT, and bench seats though but that one is priced way too high.

The arm wear shown on the drivers door is way more than 15K miles.

Hmm...have a look at pic #4 and look closely at the bed sides. Doesn't the distance between the tops of the bed sides at the rear of the bed vs. the front of the bed look wider?

Is the bed twisted?
