I was trying to climb this big hill in a deep rut when I decided to try it "one more time". Only because I had an audience. Low and behold I got stuck about 180 feet up. The back end dropped into a big hole, the left rear quarter panel slammed the frozen hill side, the rear diff high centered on the frozen ground (hate that) and the right front tire stuck way up in the air (love that). Fortunately, the "audience" helped pull me out. Good thing I carry about 200 feet of rope and chain. I think a new spring project is going to be fabricating a new rear bumper and some kinda bolt-on guard to help protect the rear quarters...and of course new front D60, locker, and crossover steering.

Wow! That looks pretty scary! How was it to actually climb it?

Re: 4X4 Action Pix

I think that was my 3rd try. What happened is my back end fell into a hole my front end dug on the 2nd try. At first my 6 year old daughter and I were having fun shaking back and forth getting the truck to rock side to side. We have been in this position enough times before. The scary part was getting pulled violently back down the hill. I made her get out and stay a safe distance away because it was pretty close to going over. The snow is fun but it hides a lot of trouble...:)

Thanks, most these pix dont do justice to the size and and scope of some of these hills. But I think the shot with the towrope looks cool.

:( Sadly, I've decided to "put away" the Blazer for a while. Its just too cold to work on it and I get tired of wheeling on the frozen ground. I suppose I could take her out if any locals planned something fun to do (hint, hint). So here she sits, behind the garage next to one of my lowrider Chevelle wagons (the beater). I've always got a kick out of seeing them next to each other. Total opposite ends of the height spectrum. :)

Winter wheeling is fun but there always seems to be "stuff" to do to the off-road rides and winter seems to be the best 'down' time.

If I can get HALF of the tweaks/repairs I want to get done this winter, I'll be happier for it come spring.

*Fuel injection - check/done but needs plug wires and to be dialed in
*Fuel cell - on order - DONE
*Zero rates - soon (removing the overload spring and moving my rear axle some) - DONE
*Tube doors - Gonna try
*Tach - probably - DONE
*Install radio/stereo - yeah maybe
*Quarter panel protection - hope it happens this year
*New seats - my arse wishes
*PAINT - okay...that's gonna be next year :o
*42's - in my dreams

SEE what I mean?!

Did get the new 18ft/10K trailer already though. :c2:

I'd be very interested to see progress pix on the rear quarter protection, tube doors, seats....HELL I'd love to see it all! I think Im gonna concentrate on getting the "show" Chevelle wagon going this year. Its a twin to the beater car in the pix. But, new 2 tone paint, new 283/700r4. Just gotta put her together.:)

:) OK, maybe I lied about putting the Blazer away for a while. It warmed up, rained a ton and made the off-road park a glorious muddy mess.

 Here's the definition of "approach-angle". I was having so much fun I purposely nosed her into this hole and got stuck. Just so I could use the winch. You can also see where I broke an exhaust mount and bent the tail pipe...another new repair/project.

:) "Seven-Mile-Off-Road-Park" in Spokane, Wa. is divided by a dry creek bed. Theres a fence and several gates (always open) that run along it. The signs say "do not cross creek when it is flowing". Well it hasn't "flowed" in 7 years, according to the park ranger. Well guess what...its flowing, the gates were open and we were having a blast. :metal: Maybe next weekend I can get some actual "action" shots instead of a bunch of poser shots.

Re: 4X4 Action Pix

Wow, I've never seen water in that creekbed. Always made me wonder why they built a fence if theres never water there. I wonder if they had something upstream regulating when water could drain through there, or if it's just been too dry the last 7 years.

WOW !! Cool i am getting the fever to go tear up some mud LOL!! No luck here though. Busting snow drifts is almost as fun if it wasnt for the inch of ice we had before the snow.

So I see allen has joined the forum.. Good to see the ione boys showing up on here...

I pretty much want to use the word hate with you guys.. Because I hate you for having fun with your trucks.. I sold my "Got Mud" blazer and went into the muscle car side with my '64 olds and '72 chev. I sort of regret it when I see the local boys coming back out.. The offroad days seemed to die down for awhile around here..

Makes me want to have randy build me something again. I keep threatening him that I'll shut his website down if he doesn't hook a brother up...

Get a truck!!! We need more 4x4 friends who actually use thier trucks...like your pix suggest. I must admit, I'm sick of all these posers with thier big, "bad-ass" lifted trucks that do nothing but drive thru puddles and WATCH.
