Thanks, I like the color combo also, I thought it was a repaint when I looked it over. I didn't think that was a color option for blazers.

Well the interior is all out, seats, carpet, sides panels and I have a little rust....
Windshield head is gone, has anyone tried to modify one from a truck cab?

I've never seen a truck header used but they do reproduce it now. Check out gmc Paul's. I didn't know they had a white black combo either. I would love to have that top.

I know now why some blazers don't get finished or put back together the right way. I'm looking at replacement panels and parts well over 2k and no labor. humm.. my bean counter might put a slow down on things. but I have one!!!!

Your best bet is to keep it running and driving for now. Then you can slowly pick at needed repairs and enjoy it, they are still fun even if they are not perfect.

I love the rally's! I am in the middle of a complete restore with LS-1 and I am going with Rally's and stock look!!!

Thanks guys. I have tons of things the blazer needs before rally wheels but it helps me see through the ugly.

I dropped the gas tank to empty the bad fuel. inside the tank looks real good so no more bottle feeding. one step closer.

I separated the top form the body and looks to be the first time in 40 plus years. doors, hood, and tailgate close great. lucky me I think.

Again I'm putting the cart in front of the horse and no way ready to mount a roll bar but couldn't pass for the price. I like the way this type of bar fits top on and off.

I cut the bad floor pans to see what i really have .... and it's like most. Need to get body mounts on the list and patch pieces.

I plan to use the original interior door panels that had fabric glued to them. The fabric came off pretty easy but the old upholstery glue not so. I scraped with the stuff you can get at the hardware store and plastic putty knife and it's kinda working. Wish I had the picture of the black stuff glued over the wood grain.

It looks like a good project. I'm curious how the rust gets going in the center of the header. That seems like an odd place.

Have you tried 3M adhesive remover on that glue?

My head hits the top with a lawn chair but a five gallon bucket and a little balance I can move it around some. As far as the rust in windshield header I think the cans of spray foam may have contributed to some that, I also had home insulation stuffed in the bedsides which helped with the rust around the wheel wells and floors.

I sprayed the door panels with a plastic coating. What do you think just trim or wood insert.

roll bar looks great!!! im so gonna use the same in one of my 70's;)im gonna vote for the door panels WITH wood grain inserts.

I'll be doing body mounts soon as well, feel free to offer any worthwhile advice. Also, do you have any details on the roll bar or if that same model can be bought somewhere? It looked like you were able to find yours used.

Tom, I used an exterior trim and plastic coating in satin black made for touching up on bumpers. I went this route to help with scratches and everyday use the panels get.

I used the information that is here on the site for replacing the body mounts and is very useful. Worthwhile advice I would say is get a bunch of good dust/particle masks or respirator and safety glasses because you will be getting a ton of rust junk in you face.
If your mounts have never been replaced cut the bolt heads off spray WD or something and drive them out and you will save yourself a bunch of time.

Mounts are in and the body line is good, I'm ready to tackle the rust and patch panels. (thanks senorx)

No patch panels yet. When I get the body set right then I'll start getting replacement body stuff.

Not sure what to do next. The doors shut nice but rub at the header. Should I shim at A pillar or loosen up the front cowl a bit to see if it will relax some.

Adding body shims at the mounts located near the rear of the door should help. Removing shims from the front mounts by the firewall could help also. Before doing any of this, any bolts holding the fenders on should be loosened off. This is a fairly big job because once the front cowl has been moved (rotated) forward, your doors and fenders will have to be realigned for proper gaps.

I saw it in a truck in a grocery store parking lot, talked to the guy and done deal. I see them in trucks occasionally. I don't know a supplier that sells this type.

Where did you find the rally wheels? I've been looking for some just like those but all I seem to find is beat up bent ones.

wheelsvintique will sell you new ones, just sold a set that I got from my local you pull it, paid 5.00 a wheel and 5.00 for tires that held air for shop rollers.

Keep an eye on the for sale forum, they pop up
shipping is the deal buster, like 30- 35 bucks a wheel, depending on where they are located
