EDIT 2/9: ALL FIXED! (Sorry Liz. Couldn't fix that one in you post :()

This is a picture & discussion thread for those who appreciate the old bigger trucks. Feel free to post pictures or comment. This is all brands,old-new,dirty-clean,all sizes... I'll start with a GMC,Old #6 of Lane Transportation. They are no longer in business. I see their trucks at antique truck shows and stumbled on these today:

A medium duty from the same style:

I knew the owner of this truck and told him, "If you ever decide to sell...". Well, unfortunately,Fred lost a battle with leukemia last year. What a loss. If you ever met him you'd say he was one of the nicest guys you ever met. It was bad timing for me and as far as I know this one is gone. He had quite a collection, mostly GMCs,and his son put quite a few up for sale. You don't just stick these out under the carport. Man what a handsome truck!

Here's a row of some of his GMCs:

I haven't collected pics of them but I really love the older big rigs.I would love to have one but have no idea where I could park it or what I would use it for.I'll bet I could come up with a good excuse though. My Dad drove during the era of those posted so I have actually gotten to ride in many like the ones posted by special K.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

You have good taste,Liz . Deland,I always dug the big tandems over singles and there were always so many singles at the shows. Someone pointed out most guys went for them because of garage space. Well DUH! Now I see and what the hey. It's not like you're hauling a huge cargo anymore. I still diggum bigger, though. I traveled a good bit in the early '70s and that';s when the big trucks really kicked in with me. They were doing what I was doing, only getting paid. Plus,I saw trucks I never saw back home. Out in the open west the trucks were bigger and meaner. The loggers in the NW,the cattle haulers all over,doubles...etc. They sure are nostalgic for me.

Neat idea Tim.
I really like Fred's needle nose KW and his Cracker Box GMC.
That blue Dodge tractor on the lowboy is a rare one. There weren't many of those built.
