1967 k10 locking hub help

1 Attachment(s)
hello, I have some questions on the mismatched hubs that are on my 67 k10. It has the original closed knuckle dana 44 and two different styles of locking hubs. I've searched all over and dont exactly see what I am dealing wth.

First, the drivers side is a warn, but I cant find this style of Warn hub as it appears there is a missing trim ring of some kind, under which is a snap ring. Becuase of the ring, there are not the 6 bolt holes I see on others. So what am I missing and is it worth trying to find? this side seems to work smoothly otherwise.

then, on the passenger side I have what I believe is a Spicer based on the outer chrome ring, but the plastic selector is busted, likely because it wont engage easily. It also appears to be red, which I understand to be the Ford color. I can pull it apart, but would a yellow knob just fall in there?

I should probably just buy a new set of Warn hubs that match as it seems it's not always easy or cheap to find pieces for these older locking hubs.

I admittedly don’t have as much experience with the earlier pre 70 1/2 ton hubs but if I had to guess I’d I say your passenger side could have been a 70 Chevy hub as well as Ford(they are all spicer hubs in actuality). The K20 hub dials were red for 1970 and 1970 only so I would assume the K10 would have been the same. The one thing im not sure on is how well the Pre ‘70 and post ‘70 hubs interchange. They must because you’ve got one on the passenger side but I’m not sure exactly what’s involved. I’m sorry I’m not more help on the warn. I think If it were me I’d try and swap to the later ‘70+ style spicer hub like your passenger side has. Maybe even swap in some blue dials to make everything uniform. I’m sure someone else will chime in with suggestions as well.

If you decide to go with warn hubs, I may be able to help with a set

Yes a yellow or blue spicer hub dial will go right in there in place of the red one you currently have. Red is correct for 69 and 70 GM 4x4 and possibly 67-68. The dial is hard to turn because the lockout itself is packed full of grease. Needs to be cleaned out and lubed with a thin coating of grease and some use a little oil with it.

I prefer a thin coat of 80/90 in my hubs. Makes winter time much easier. I usually lube them up once a year or so. I figured the later hubs would bolt up thanks for confirming.
