Backup light switch adjustment

I've never had to fool with the backup switch. I have an auto that replaced a 3 on the tree with an indicator from a 3 speed auto. My tranny is an 4l65e.

Usually when I out the shifter into reverse - the backup lights don't come on. If they are not on, I can pull the shifter a little to the right and they work.

How can I make an adjustment to have backup lights at the normal detent for reverse?

Also, is there perhaps a backup switch on the 4l65e?

Thanks

Re: Backup light switch adjustment

Do you have the factory neutral switch hooked up? If so you should be able to adjust it to make them come on. From what you said it does since moving the gear shift lever makes it work.
It will be under the dash on the top of the steering column.
2 1/4" screws should hold it in place. Loosen them and it should slide. Be easy though it also makes the truck not crank when in gear.

Yes it should be the light green and dark green wires. The purple wires are the neutral safety wiring.:chevy:
