Questions about 67-68 hubcaps
OK, I've seen at least 3 different styles of the 67-68 Chevy dog dish caps:
Red and white painted silver painted with red and black accents and chrome/stainless with red and black accents. OK, so my question is what was used when and on what kind of truck? I'm guessing: Red and white painted was standard in 67? Silver painted with red and white accents was standard in 68? Chrome/stainless with black and red accents was optional in 67 and 68? Any Help? |

These hubcaps seem to be original to CST models in '67-'68.
They picture the hubcaps for CST's in my original '67 Chevy pickup brochure. It only came with 3. I bought a re-pop...but would like to fine another original. I may not always run them but I'd like a set of 4 up on the garage wall. |

Here's the link to the hubcap re-pop store:
http://www.hubcaps.org/chevtruck.html Also check with member "Hart_Rod". He has a few to sell. Good Luck! Wayne |
Re: Questions about 67-68 hubcaps
Actually the full wheel covers were either a factory option or dealer installed option for both 67 and 68. They weren't tied to the CST or custom options. In fact, my cst had painted poverty hub caps from the factory. Your original rules that you posted above are correct.

(RPO P03?) http://wkinsler.com/truck/67-68dogs/68_chrome_dogs.jpg I know full wheel covers similar to what was posted above by 19553100 were offered in 1970 from the factory as RPO P01, but don't know about earlier years, perhaps someone in the know can speak up. |
Re: Questions about 67-68 hubcaps
RPO 1 covers are the full wheel covers. The 67-68 version is pictured above, it was changed in 69 and the center cap was added and replacing the red bowtie with the blue version within a actual center cap attached to the same basic RPO 1 cap . In '73 the full wheel cover bowtie was changed to yellow/gold and instead of the complete center being painted solid black with blue bowtie, a yellow/ gold trim ring was added with the bowtie still sitting in a black background. Sometime around 78 the center cap was changed from pot metal that was chromed to plastic. The dog dish also changed and went from stainless, to chrome to aluminum as the years progressed.

You are correct, thanks!
I've attached a few scans from an original 1967 Chevy Truck brochure. One shows a CST with a set of full hubcaps. The other, shows at least 4 dealer installed options that include the full hubcaps. Wayne |

I bought a 1968 c-10 Lwb Fleetside and it came with that type of hub cap. I too am looking for just the dog dish type. I also have some Mag ads and they show the dog dish type and not the full hub caps |

Re: Questions about 67-68 hubcaps
Anyone with Wheel Vintique steel wheels, can you confirm the (67/68) dog dish caps fit?
Also since my '68 is a C20, does anyone have a depth measurement for these (dog dish) caps, since I assume the C20's would be deeper than a C10. IF they are the same depth C10/C20, that would be good to know as well. Thanks, Kevin |

The 1968 C-20 50th golden anniversary trucks with custom comfort & appearance option were delivered with the included option RPO PO3 Chrome Hubcaps.
I guess this are the one shown in tread #2 by Wayne (Chrome, Black, Red). Wheels/Rims are R68 750 x 16 x 8 N T (build sheet). Could somebody validate this? Have somebody a hint where to buy? |
Re: Questions about 67-68 hubcaps
PO3s are hubcaps and PO1s are wheel covers. Only C/10s used wheel covers. All C/20s and C/30s came only with hubcaps. All PO1s were for 15". A C/10 with 16" wheel option could not use wheel covers.

Dear Tim thanks for quick replay and all others for excellent input too.
I believe I got it now, was a little bit confused because items (full) wheel cover and hub cap are often mixed up. PO1 : (Full) wheel cover, 1968 shown in #2 by Wayne but for 15" wheels only PO3 : Chromed hub caps (1968 black ring red tie) as shown in #14 by Nate for C-10. PO3 depends on vehicle, for C-20 order number 3930251, see attachment. Would be nice if somebody would have the dimensions for 3930251 maybe vs. 3930245. |
Re: Questions about 67-68 hubcaps
Layne, Do you have a pic of your 68 c20 caps? $?
