Removing a brazed on spare tire cover.

The PO of my truck had a patch brazed on over the spare tire cut out on my rear step side fender to make it (kind of) smooth. Anyone have any ideas on how to remove it without destroying the fender? The lap on the patch looks like it's anywhere form 1/2 to 1 inch. From what I can see from the back side the fender was not cut up to do this.

This is a other wise near perfect, rust free fender with only a few minor dents so I would really like to save it.

Post a picture?
I am wondering why you want to remove it? What's the point? If you can grind it smooth, leave it there as it won't harm anything.

Will post a pic. later.

I want to remove it so I can have the spare tire cut out useable.
There's nothing really wrong with how it was done and it fits reasonably well, I just don't think the smoothed look works well on a K20.

Using a die grinder with a cut off disc to remove the brass is a piece of cake. But post photos so we can see exactly what you are talking about.

The heat idea is good but first you have ground off the majority of it, melting it all over spreading it out isn't a good idea and warping the fender too, grind off most of it first.
