Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
Also, I picked up a np205 from out of a cummins /getrag 5speed for the 29 spline used in both the nv4500 and Allison. So I've got some choices still. Trevor

Still working on the pillar. Modified the fit of the hump in it. It was bent just a little off from matching my striker piece. Spent most of my time tonight forming and welding up my reinforcement for the door mounting to match the inside of the passenger side. The whole goal is to match it 100% to the driver side. If you open the body plugs in a burb pillar, you will see the 3 piece design I'm speaking of. I've seen where most just add a reinforcement to the outside skin.

Tonights progress on "operation pillar". Excuse all the boring pillar pics, it keeps me motivated to keep heading out to the shop after work.

Tonight's work after work. The door frame looks a little crooked and is a little bit, I have a little weld built up on the backside bowing it out towards the front door rear. I plan to finish out the outside of the pillar and then I'll drill out the spot welds along the piece above that and remove it in one piece and clean up the back and primer it. Then weld in my hinge support and latch bracketry. Then finally have my pillar woes behind me.

I would like to come by some time. I am doing the same thing. Here is a link on mine I have not been able to work on it much but I continue to get parts rounded up and I hope to hit it hard this fall.

Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
Nice donor truck! I have been really surprised how dang expensive any dmax truck is right now!!
|
Re: Project: Big Grapefruit
Thanks guys for the kind words.
It took awhile to find one in budget and no major problems. Most wrecked Dmaxs I was seeing were wrecked hard in the front. Chase, anytime, except most weekends lol. Tend to spend time with my girlfriend. Ryan, I agree on the prices. |

Been slowly building the mirror image of the 3rd door. Working with mediocre doors, as I am cutting them up so much, (it would be sacrilegious to cut up nicer).
