What is involved in changing a 46 Chevy Grill to a GMC
1 Attachment(s)
Can someone tell me for sure what I need to change other than the grill to put a GMC grill in my 46 Chevy? I have a GMC hood and hood sides. I also have the lower splash pan behind the grill but not sure if I need it since I am not running the original frame under the truck. I also know the filler panels in the corner of the grill, hood and fender are different. What about the upper filler panel? What about the front trim that holds the front of the hood? Thanks.
Here is my build thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=383658 |

todd some of the guys here are also active on stovebolt.com, I dont normally advocate another forum but those guys are accurate to a hundred thousandth (sometimes exasperatingly and slightly disturbingly, but from a place of best intentions not malice) and I would bet you would get part numbers and an assembly manual page or two and maybe the correct angle to hold your tongue when installing from this question.

Thanks for the advise and help. I will get back on there sometime and see what I can find. Thanks again. |

I am sorry to hear that. you are right that the feeling there is "being technically correct is the best kind of correct" but as long as you have some fairly thick skin for being corrected I have found it a useful resource, at least the positives for me outweigh the fiddly negatives.
I have seen in person three different front fender types. 1/2 3/4, the 1 - 1.5 and up, the ones you describe that my friend called a GMC 1 1/4 ton. I have even seen them for sale on the stovebolt classifieds so I am surprised they argued that point. |

I believe you need a gmc core support to run a gmc grill. I tried to replace my gmc core support with a chevy one and it is different
