No mod to the latch. Don't want to sell anything, Just tring to help guy's out from getting ripped off, like we have in the past. I think just the shipping from brothers for dad's was 80 bucks. That's half the cost of the parts needed to do the job. Not to counting the $400 for the parts. You can get the same stuff for $160 from your local glass shop.

Here's a quick pic of what has to be done to the metal tracks in the door.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ws/doormod.jpg

From hearing what Brian and his dad said about the brothers kit It has no metal track for the flexible window track to sit in to the front. So it just flops and that why the doors rattle and window can come out of the track. Guys with the brothers kits may want to look into adding that to there doors.

Missed the pic of getting the hole marked and cut, but it's the same location as were it originally was, just moving it out about a 1/4". It was tacked in place just at the top. We did need to tweek it later.

Note the top of the track is now move up just to were it clears the nut for the latch.

I did miss some stuff that is talked about on the vid. It was pretty easy to miss some pics as we were running around alot looking at all the other cars and truck you and your family has.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

Here is a pic I missed but the window regulator needs to be trimmed. One of the arms is bent into a channel. the part circled needs have the channel trimmed down flat. It will bind up with the front metal track if not flattend out. I'll try to get a better pic later on this.

Once the front track was done we layed the glass on the door to find the position of the front track. Another missed pic. On mine we just drilled another set of holes for the front track. Brian's dad's truck he extended the mounting bracket to use the factory holes. I guess if your doors are already painted you may want to do that. The top will be held by the flexible track so it's just loose.

Here is is close to where it needed to be.

That's all the pics I've got on all the mods. Bending the flexible window track is tricky but just take your time. I have not done the window felts but it just takes some bending and fitting. The rest is just putting it all back together. Some tweaking will be needed. Plus watch the vid for more info.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

You have got me thinking. I always thought you had to weld in a filler at the front of the window frame to use single glass. Correct me if I'm wrong but assuming I already have to replace all the weather striping, channel felts, etc. Is the only other cost the glass? And labor for modification? From looking at the photo "doormod" it appears like the factory mechanism is designed to pivot the glass around the front as it drops. It also looks like the front channel is NOT parallel to the back to allow for the glass being narrower at the bottom, right?

I rebuilt my regulators before so they are good and I have spare door guts from two other doors. I have mine completely disassembled and it does not look like that much work. One of my vents windows is broken and the drivers glass is pretty scratched up from 40 years of scraping ice off it so it was going to be replaced too.

It's all in what you like, some like wings, and some don't. cost and time about the same. The one piece might be cheaper. It's real easy to do, just takes alittle time to get it all ajusted, but no biggie. Got the vidio all edited, 18min. I'm tring youtube one more time. a part 1 and part 2. we will see if it works

I took the door apart again to take a pic of what was done to the window regulator. Here is all that need to be trimmed off.

The glass doesn't pivot, it's more of a slides on the rollers back to front as it goes up.

The front channel is leaned in at the bottom some but the pic angle makes it look more.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

Thanks, I remember now how the mechanism works, rollers move horizontally as window is moved up and down. Did you just weld on the 3" roller extension?

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

Yes blackdiesel did just weld that. I think it's more than 3. here's it together.

any youtube gurus on here?!? i saved my vid to what they reccomended as far as formats go, but it says estimated time left is over 10 hours.... and thats for only half of the installation!!! and even if you leave it to upload it will fail within the hour. Jared is trying to get the pattern for the glass made into a PDF, so we wont have to ship the patterns anymore. so i need to get this uploaded to the net so i wont have to worry about it. HELP

Is the hole on the left just because it was in the piece or needed to mount to the regulator?? Can't wait to see the video.

the hole you are referring to was simply in the piece i needed to lengthen the track. it is not used during installation
