Over spray
 

Had my 84 too close to a car being painted outside and guess the wind was stronger than we thought and now I have overspray all over my truck. You can not see it but you can feel it on paint and glass etc. What is the best way to get the overspray off my truck without hurting my paint job.Thanks

I'd use a single edge razor blade on the glass areas, and some pre-clean on the paint, sooner than later. The solvents in pre-clean have nowhere near the bite of lacquer thinners, etc., so it will be more forgiving on your paint finish.

I'd talk to a professional auto detailer before I'd put anything on the finish. Just to be safe.

I have been told you can us 0000 steel wool on the glass and will not hurt glass, bumpers etc.

Razor blade on the glass and the clay bar on the finished surfaces. If you have some DX330 or some equal product like a preclean final wash something like that, try that in one of those spots down low. Like the carpet cleaners tell you try first in area that is not as noticed. Those cleaners will act differently with different finishes but the DX330 shouldn't harm any finishes neither would Final wash. The clay bar system is a lot of work similar to a proper buffing as there are several steps to do it properly. The first thing may be as simple as a cleaner wax, it[the overspray]if dried enough before landing on your love may be just on top enough to "wipe" away with wax. Jim

I have used 0000 steel wool on glass with great results and the clay bar worked very well on my Harley that was outside but to close.

I used to work for a painting company and I used Mothers' Clay Bar system on many cars. Some people asked if I could go to their home and do their other cars.

OK, I decided to try the clay bar and it took a lot of work (a lot of rubbing) but got all the over spray off the truck and windows etc. The clay bar worked great. Now for the wax.
