Help installing rubber A-arm stops
 

I have a 67 chevy C-20 pickup that I am installing a complete 76 C-20 front cross member and suspension. I am replacing all the components and I am stuck on putting in the lower A-arm rubber bump stops. Any suggestions or ideas of how to install? I have tried dish soap and heating the rubber stop in boiling water but still haven't had any success. Any help would be appreciated!

Heat is what I would suggest but you have that covered. Hopefully someone knows the secret to getting them in.

I have slid those into the groove. Never could push them down into it.

Work the part into the groove from one end. IIRC there was one side that had an extra slit made to help this. Then use a rubber mallet and just keep knocking it down the groove. Using some silicon helps make them slide a little easier.

I used a 2 X 4 and pried them into the slot after greasing them up.

You might try using a wood spacer and jacking the truck up to use its own weight to press them in.
