Any decent aftermarket cv axles out there?
I have to replace the front cv axles on my friend's 2003 Silverado 1500. The hub bearings have already been replaced so they sound and feel fine.
I know there is a ton of tempting inexpensive cv axles out there but I would like to install something of quality and not have to replace these components in the next year or two simply to save a few bucks. I do not feel he can afford GM oem components so would anyone out there happen to know of a brand that has some decent durability for a reasonable price? Thank you for any help. |

You may want to ask a mod to move this into the 99-06 forum.

Re: Any decent aftermarket cv axles out there?
I think they're all the same part 1988++ ...?
Anyway, I'll let you know in a year or two. ;) Just put axles from O'Reilly's on mine. About $150 for the pair. I will say that the "new" ones are a lot easier to put on than the old ones were to get off. The replacement parts came with the inboard flange cut in a semi-hexagon shape so it slips past the lower A-frame without any problem. If the ones I took off were OEM, I wouldn't want to ever have anything to do with those again. |
Re: Any decent aftermarket cv axles out there?
There’s 88-98, there is 92-94 with 4 wheel abs, there is 99-07, then 07-13. That’s just for half ton. They aren’t interchangeable between the generations.
3/4 and 1 ton 88-00, 99-07, 07-10, 11-14. You can’t take a cv axle meant for a 90 and put it on your 2003. |

Anyway, I'm sure the same aftermarket companies makes axles for 2003. I had to buy two different brands because they only had one of each brand in stock at the little O'Reilly's store, and I didn't want to make another 50 mile round trip. |
