My experience w/ aftermarket wheels is crap. I'd get (and have) a stock wheel from a GM vehicle and wrap it in leather (wheelskins.com). If I do it again, I'll get some inner tube or something and put a layer or two on the wheel first to make it fatter and softer like a modern one.
Wheelskins took my measurements and made a new skin for my 4-spoke Camaro wheel. $10 for the wheel and $30 for the skin seemed cheap at the time. I think I sold the aftermarket wheel for about the same amount.

Another nice thing is the horn works.

I installed a 60's corvette wheel in mine. It had a tan lecarra when I bought it, but way nicer now. Uses a camaro hub.

While aftermarket steering wheels can work, they tend to be an expensive "cheap" PITA and you never know when the horn's gonna throw sparks. Definitely look into putting a different Chevy wheel in there if you can not live with the originals.

I have this one on my truck. Its a Le Carra and I like it and have been using it since 2006 on two different trucks.

Am still looking for one with less "dish".... I'm told a '69 Camaro wood wheel will work, but am skeptical regarding mounting to column. Maybe...

I have this wheel in my truck, but it’s the black foam grip version. The horn button works fine, and it looks good i there.

I went from this pilot to a GM comfort wheel . The mount on the pilot moved the wheel to close to my chest. Horn didn't work. New one from Ausley's chevelle was 209$ Complete. Works perfectly. The new wheel has a larger diam than the pilot just the way the picture was taken it looks smaller.

I got one off a 1976 or 77 pickup with the wood grain strip in it. When I bought my truck it had one of those little tiny wheels in it. I like the wood grain because it goes with the wood grain on the dash.

I spent 350 bucks on a supposedly rosewood steering wheel from one of the main vendors so thought it would at least be wood and all it turned out to be was a plastic POS that’s supposed to resemble wood. Fair to say I was not impressed anyone else run into that issue?

The GM "Rosewood" wheel was plastic as well so that would be correct for a reproduction. Same with Walnut. The only real wood wheel from GM was the optional N32 Teak steering wheel from 65-66 Corvette.

I also run the GM Comfort Grip wheel in my '69 short step, in my 69 Camaro, and in my '79 CJ5. I ditched all the aftermarket wheels. I did buy a Grant that is styled after the Comfort grip wheel that uses the GM hub from the Comfort Grip wheel but haven't installed it yet.

My Jimmy has an 88-94 GMC truck wheel which can be a good junkyard choice.

To mount the repro Rosewood, Walnut, or Comfort Grip wheel in a 67-72 truck use a 67-68 Camaro hub kit. Or from any GM passenger car that had the ignition switch on the dash like '68 Chevy II (Nova) or a 65-68 Chevelle depending on who your favorite vendor is.

Here is an aftermarket wheel that uses the GM hub and they claim is real walnut for less than $200 which seems a deal. I think it would work with the Camaro hub but I'm not sure. I thought they all used the same pattern but the questions below that wheel put some doubt in me.... (edit: Link below to wheel hubs and why 63-66 Corvette is different)

Well there you go you learn something new all the time. I was pretty disappointed when I pulled it out of the box but you get that. I think I’ll end up with the plain black comfort grip version. Thanks for clearing that up I really thought I had gotten the shaft haha

My 66 SS Chevelle has the two spoke "rosewood" wheel its oem but its plastic.

This is the second of two Forever Sharp 14" wheels I have used. I can add a wood half wrap if desired..
