6.0 vs 8.1 Instrument CLusters Differences?
Interchange book shows the clusters are different between an 6.0 and 8.1 03 Silverado.
What is/are the difference(s) and can I swap them anyways? (I understand it will have to be programed) Thanks in advance, Eric |
Re: 6.0 vs 8.1 Instrument CLusters Differences?
8.1 trucks had a five speed(01-05) or 6 speed(06-07)transmission. All of the 6.0 trucks had the 4 speed.
I know there is a overdrive off light and the shift indicator display may be different. |
Re: 6.0 vs 8.1 Instrument CLusters Differences?
i have both, i will double check tomorrow for you BUT i believe the only difference is that the 8.1 has a trans temp dial, where as my 6.0 does not.
my 8.1 allison and my 6.0 six speed at work have shift indicators that only display 4 gear options. the 6.0 truck is a cab over delivery truck with an old fashioned between the seats shifter and has [1][2][D4][D6] where as the 8.1 both at work and home have have the usual silverado / sierra column and shift mech. |
Re: 6.0 vs 8.1 Instrument CLusters Differences?
All of the 9200 GVW(2500HD)and bigger trucks had the trans temp gauge.
The 6 speed wasnt offered behind the 6.0 until the GMT900 trucks. If you have a cabover, I am going to assume it's a rebadged isuzu NPR. |
