i had mine inspected a few months ago. front tires have little tread, turns needed fiddeling by me to work, two huge cracks on windshield and not muffler. passed no problem.

Here in the peoples republic of California they're more concerned with your trucks emissions than the safety of your vehicle.

Well that sucks. What was it out on? Nox? Hydrocarbons?

It passed out the tailpipe, they failed me because 2 of the vacuum hoses were not hooked up, turns out I need a check valve. Technically the vacuum lines are going to the right place, there is just no check valve really. I was extremely frustrated earlier and said I was going to sell it, but I am going to try and fix it first. I was going to delete my add but I can't so I will let it run its course. It blows my mind how it passes out the tailpipe and fails for no check valve which does nothing for emissions. Also I need a new fuel cap, no big deal already got one.

So when the guy told me he was going to fail me for those vacuum lines I asked him where they go since I passed 2 years ago, he told me he had no idea where they went. I then asked him why are you going to fail me if you don't know where they go he simply said "follow the diagram" what a goon if he doesn't know where they go, how does he know they're in the wrong place. Once I get it to pass its getting a new steering column and new paint. :smoke:

I will need a new catalytic converter because the nox and Hydrocarbons are on the high side, but I already knew this. I will be putting stock manifolds back on and redoing the exhaust system sometime in the next 2 years. Overall its just frustrating, I can't wait to finish school so I can move to another state.

That's frustrating but at least it passed the hard part. Maybe a different shop next time?

Hopefully, that is one place I am strongly considering anything over 24 years old or 1984 for no smog right?

..

depends where you go. there are counties, like Chambers, that don't smog no matter age. some, like Harris, do but not sure where the cutoff is. they're right next to each other.
mines a 92 but since i've owned it it's never been smogged but it's a diesel.

Well guys I got it smogged, free for another 2 years haha. I will be getting a paint quote later this week. Once I get my tax money back it will be getting painted. Next will be a tilt column and new rear lift springs.

Put a billet grille on, I tried to take the black paint off my original one and that turned out to be a disaster. I didn't like it too much at first, but it grew on me quickly. Also I talked to a painter that is a friend of my uncle, he took a look at my truck today and is going to give me a quote on paint. Also I have another project coming up getting it delivered next week.

Billet grille:

Looks really good. I'm glad you are keeping her for the time being. How do you like the Detroit in the rear on the daily driver?

I admit I overreacted on the smog, it really was no big deal to fix and was stupid on my part to get all mad about it, I learned to keep my cool about it.

The locker is pretty good, it does have it quirks being a locker and all such as the random "bang" which has happened about 3 times since being in there but its really no big deal to drive on a daily basis with no snow. If it snowed here, I would have put a trutrac in it. I hardly ever need 4 wheel drive now.

Dropping it off for paint on Friday I'm very excited, I have never had a car or truck painted before.

one of my favorite things is new paint day and new wheel/tire day. How long are they supposed to have it and how long do you think they will have it? Just got mine back from paint last week. 30 days turned in to 100

He said 2-3 weeks, we will see. His boss is my uncle so its more of a family friend deal so hopefully he gets it done in a timely manner. I just want a nice solid job done so if it takes more time its OK with me.

I think Cochino cursed my paint schedule  but my painter got all the bodywork done and its going to be in primer Thursday. After its in primer he is going to block sand then the base/clear will go on, wait a couple of days then color sand and polish and block sand the clear. Hopefully by the end of next week I will have it back.

He said he had a hell of a time doing my passenger door. I knew the door had been repaired poorly before, so it was just really beat. The glass guy will pull out the front side and rear windows before he paints it and new rear and side glass will be installed along with the chrome front and rear weatherstripping. I am so excited, I miss driving her and seeing her in my driveway.

I will get more pictures of the body work soon, but for now here is a teaser picture.
