What is this?

Anyone able to educate me on what this is? Black box located on radiator support, behind overflow bottle.
Has a ground wire coming off of it and a wire going to some sort of remotely located sensor(?) below it. Other than that, no other wires involved.

It is a voltage regulator. Evidently, it has been disabled. Lots of us go with the internally regulated alternators. The external regulator has manual contact points inside that close and open, depending on the need for charging. Bruce
