55 Fender Emblem Location

Hi Guys,

I have a 55 second series and I wanted to mount the fender V8 emblem. The assembly manual does not give the measurements.

Does anybody out there have these on their truck? I am hoping for a measurement (x and y) maybe at the point of the "v" so I can mount these.

Thanks,

Smitty

I thought I would send out another cry for help. I have been searching everywhere for this info with no luck.

Is there anyone out there with a 55?

Can't give X/Y coordinates but if you look on EBay for 55 Chevy trucks you can see a few with the V8 emblem installed. If you can't find exact measurements the pics should put you so close that no one would know the difference.

Here you go from the factory assy manual.

Thanks Orrie,

I can't believe you found that for me. I searched the assy manual and could not find it.

I have a question though.

Looking at the drawing, I am guessing that that line with the S.V. 25 with the circle is the fender crease, and the S.V. 2.60 is the distance (in inches) from the back fender edge. The other one, S.V. 10 I have no idea.

Does that seem right to you?

The whole diagram is in the v8 engine RPO section in the back of the manual, all of the stuff pertaining to installing the V8 is there (hint hint to those wanting to convert from 6 to V8). Above the detail it has a picture of the whole fender and part of the cab which might answer your question. I don't have the book with me. I assumed you had the holes for the 3100 emblem and just needed the measurement from them. If you have not figured it out by tonight I will shoot the upper part of the page and post it.

Thanks Orrie,

I finally found it the drawing you sent in the back of the book, but it is not too clear to me what the distance is from the back edge of the fender.

I just found this link online and I might be able to use this as a reference point

http://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38200

It looks like that may get me close enough.

These are new fenders that came with the truck so they don't have any holes. Sorry to be so cautious but I want to be sure before I drill a bunch of 3/8 holes through them and the new paint on top :dohh:

Let me know what you think.

thanks for the help,

Smitty

Someone with a stock fender should chime in with a dim for the upper emblem. I'm 59 so no help. I will look at the book tonight and see if I can make any sense of it.

Re: 55 Fender Emblem Location

FAM section 11-18 shows the emblem mounting on the fender, but no dimensions because the fender must have come with the holes punched. So we are back to some one with a original fender supplying the dims.
