I finally got some progress done on my truck. I got the cab mounted on the chassis, now its beginning to look like something. I'm planning on running tall skinny AT tires, something in the 255/85-16 range, so around 34". That should raise it up a couple inches from where it is now on the stands. It should fit under my 8' doors with this 4" K20 lift. The big block clears the firewall nicely too, so I'll probably use an HEI in place of the Mallory Unilite. I'll be changing to a short water pump, so that should allow for a clutch fan.

Hello Old57
I love these old truck on 4X4 frame. I think they look cool. I had Unilite Dissy on my big block and it would burn out the center element in the cap at about 8000 miles. I would carry one behind the seat so I would not get stranded. Ended up going to HEI

Thanks, I really like them set up 4wd. Can't wait to be able to drive it "one of these years". I was planning on using an HEI all along, but I started thinking ahead that I may have clearance problems, so I got this Unilite from craigslist. Now that I see that an HEI will work, I'll try to resell this Unilite and go with the original plan. HEI distributors are not anything nice to look at, but they sure are simple and work good.

I got the core support, inner fenders and driver fender mounted on for a mock-up. Starting to look like a beast.

Awesome work! I love this body style and have been trying to find one around here to do what you're doing to it. Your chassis and engine look sweet too!

How are you setting up parking break. I installed disc break on the back of my transfer case.

The transfer case parking brake is what I was thinking. I'll probably install a line lock in the brake system when I run all the lines for now, just to keep it from rolling when it's running in neutral. Do you have any pics or info on your transfer case brake? I've only seen a couple pics of them, nothing in person or in detail.

I got the tires today, and had them mounted on my wheels. I finally have it sitting on its own again. The tires are Mastercraft CXT 255/85-r16, load range E, which is a 33x10. It has the stance I was looking for. I think it looks really tough. I need to get the hub caps repainted and then the wheels will be done. Hopefully I can get the front clip and doors pulled back off soon to get blasted and primed.

Yes, I try to keep the build thread up to date. Click the link in my signature. I have all of the front sheet metal off and blasted/primed, clutch and brake pedals and master cylinders installed, tank mounted, heater/defroster and windshield wipers installed, exhaust made, etc. I hope to be running brake lines and fuel lines soon.
