th400 tail housing spacer ?

1 Attachment(s)
this is a pic of the old 700r4 to th350 swap kits . the big aluminum spacer took up the difference .

i am in need of a spacer for a th400 with male on 1 side and the female on the other side . just a straight up spacer . this would be 1" - 1 1/8" thick range .

i have a combo i need to bolt up but cant just use a re-drilled round pattern adapter on it . so the spacer would be fast / easy / work good. and i dont want to tear apart the good working trans just to change a tail shaft and i dont have the tail shaft i would need anyway .

I read your post four times, not sure exactly what you are asking.....you dont want to spend the money to buy the correct output shaft (dont want to tear down a "working" trans) but you are looking for a spacer that may exist or may not...am I even close ? you want one end to bolt to the end of the th400 case with 6 bolts and the other end is bolting to what ? Help me help you....Thanks

I believe what he is looking for is just as he said. A spacer for the tail end of a TH400 that is 1" to 1.125" thick. It would just fit in between the TH400 trans case and the transfer case adapter. I'm thinking he has a good 2wd TH400 and he wants to bolt up a transfer case to it.

Never seen a T400 spacer like you describe, having one made will cost more than swapping the shaft

Believe north west fab has something. It's posted on CK-5. At the cost of labor rates anymore, it would prolly be cheaper to get a spacer made. I had one made years ago and with material cost me $200. And was thicker than what he needs....

Re: th400 tail housing spacer ?

yep just a spacer .

the only real trans shop left in my area i would trust wants a min of 250 bucks just to install a basic shift improver kit and i supply the parts . . .

so i would hate to ask the price of a tear down / tail shaft swap / buy the shaft to install / and hope it still works after all this .

so yes a spacer makes sense .

took a round pattern np205 off . want to bolt up a np203/205 doubler . and long story short i cant redrill the face of the np203 to a round pattern and do it this way like most other guys do .

What would it cost him to have this spacer made ? It appears its all about the money here....

I understand your needs, it’s to bad that in your area shops have to charge as much as they do. The VB would have to come off on a T400 to change the output shaft wihich jacks up the price. Here in the south we don’t charge that much. My shop would charge only 100 bucks to change out the output shaft on a T400 plus it would work right when it’s completed. Maybe you need to get some new friends who can do this work on the weekends. Have fun !!!!

Re: th400 tail housing spacer ?

I'm not sure what the cost would be but probably half of the cost would be in CAD design and programing. Of course once that is done, producing multiple parts would be more cost effective. That might be something to consider if there was a possibility of other people wanting/needing this spacer. Selling these spacers to recoup some of the initial costs.

Looks like it will work just fine. Is the triple stick part of the doubler kit? Who's doubler kit did you purchase?

Re: th400 tail housing spacer ?

only thing i can say is nice work . but think about a pivot point for the rear output rail like ord does . makes it shift smother and not try and bind up .

and if you want CRAZY incab shifting try this one i did for 1 of my trucks .

still have to tweek it just a hair .

center yellow = lokar for 4l80-e with bell crank kit to get linkage lined up and working 100% cause i have it mounted so far forward .

5 lever = winch in/out / pto hydro pump / 203 range box / 205 rear / 205 front .

i want to see some inner city criminal try and steel this one at a 7/11 parking lot and drive it away :haha::haha:
