It's currently disassembled. When I get something done I can post some pictures, unless you needed something specific.

Any chance you may be willing to sell that suburban? I'm looking for a highly optioned model to restore to original.

Tim, there really hasn't been a lot of Burbs posted in your thread. There must be some out there somewhere.

While I started three threads for the Highlanders due the fact they were different trim codes and content my message to all that have helped so far is the same. Please drop in on the pickup thread for my words of thanks. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=439

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Suburban?

Found this on EBay today and the front seat is covered and the back seats are plaid. No spid in the ad and the seller must have International bidders blocked because I can't even send a message asking for info, like a spid pic. Maybe someone Stateside can email the seller and get a spid pic. There are some issues with this one like no A/C Compressor plus its lowered and the paint break on the tailgate is wrong and the blanketed front seat means it probably need to be reupholstered.

Good catch. Why someone would order a YG6 plus A/C and not just go YG8 is beyond me.

Nice truck but would have been better restored.

I have been thinking about that and may have the answer. If you ordered the YG8 package A/C was included and the RPO Code for a pickup ( couldn't find a Burb Spid with just front A/C ) with A/C was C60. The A/C code on the Burb shows C69 and Air Conditioning-OV is printed on the Spid. I'm thinking the YG8 Package contents were specific and if you wanted a Burb with front and rear A/C you would have had to order the YG6 and add the front and rear A/C. Same things goes why didn't they order a YG7 Package. The YG7 includes an automatic trans and this Burb was built with a 4 speed standard.

Whoever ordered this had a clear intent. To get a four speed (an upgrade from the standard three speed) he had to forgo the package savings a YG8 would have offered. Probably didn't like tilt either. To me with a four speed, a posi and both battery options he was hauling a trailer.

The fact he added A/C indicates a preference for the stick trans.
BTW as far as I know US spec Subs were only offered with the C69 front and rear A/C for the 72 MY.

Many people know about the Highlander Plaid seat trim option on both Chevrolet and GMC conventional light trucks.

However in an attempt to reach out to those who don't know I am asking people who are not sure, to please check the trim code/s of their truck/s. Often the seat covers have been replaced leaving few clues beyond white door panels (again often changed) and seat belts with black dash pad, column and carpet.

So if you could, please let us know if you have (or just found!) a "Hidden Highlander"

The codes to look for are below.
Also just in case SPID reading is new to you the code may have leading and trailing numbers even letters. Reading between the lines may be needed.

Examples 613, _ 613_ _, 613_ _

As far as the SPID description goes, generally you will see "CUSTOM TRIM COMBINA" or the COLOR followed by "...HIGHLANDER P"

This thread is body style specifc so if you have several different body styles please check the other forums for the specific trim codes as applicable. Not trying to cross post this, just touch with all who may have a Highlander.

Suburbans
Custom Deluxe Z62 mandatory option
Avocado 647
Blue 642
Gray 639
Orange 651

REVISED
In addition to the Highlander plaid trim your vehicle may ALSO have a Promo Package code.
These bundled options with the plaid trim for a cost savings in three packages "A", "B" and "C"
On the SPID they are coded:
YG6
YG7
YG8

Promo package codes and approximate savings over individual option costs.

A= YG6 Plaid Trim, Special Wheelcovers C10 (PA1) or
Chrome Hubcaps K5 (K10-20 ?), C20-30 (PO3), Chrome Front Bumper (and rear on Suburban or Blazer), Upper Bodyside Molding (belt, pickups only), Door Edge Guards and Below Eye-Line Mirrors (DG4 on Pickups/Suburbans and DF2 on Blazers). A $94.50 savings.

B= YG7 (includes A) Adds Turbo-Hydramatic Trans., Power Steering and Tilt. A $178.50 savings.

C= YG8 (includes A and B) Adds A/C and Tint. A $260.50 savings.

Finally if you have a lower bodyside molding please indicate the insert color (Woodgrained or Black).

I can't read this, might this be one?

It only took about a year of looking, but I finally found the right suburban. 642 custom trim combination with the YG8 promo package. Plaid seat covers are long gone, but everything else seems to be there.

Looks great and nice and original with the right options. Congrats. Was it a local Craigslist find?

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Suburban?

Northern California craigslist. Got the original dealership paperwork and protect-o-plate also. The suburban was sold in Fremont California in June of 1972 and from what i can tell, never left the area.
