2WD Leaf-Sprung Suburban?

Does anyone have one? Ever seen one? Either GMC or Chevy. I've got a 72 and a 68 for parts and they're both coil-sprung. The 68 is a 3/4 ton too, both are GMCs. What about Panels? I was just thinking about it and I don't remember ever seeing any with leaf springs.

Nope, to my knowledge all 67-72 panels and burb all had coils.

Good question. Of course, my Chevy C10 Burb is coil sprung all around. Just as a guess, leaf springs have greater load bearing capabilities than coils. Hence the 2wd pickups that came with leaf springs to handle heavy loads in their beds. 2wd Burbs don't have heavy load bearing needs, so maybe that's why 2wd burbs didn't come with leaf springs. Then again, maybe GM didn't want to mess with another assy line set up for the few leaf spring burbs they would have made. Just rambling, really. I don't have any idea.

The leaf springs for 71-72 were an optioned item. My 71 GMC burb has the leaf spring conversion. It was installed at the assembly plant as part of the trailer towing package. The pick ups were also an optioned item for leaf springs. The standard suspension for 71-72's were coil spring, unless you ordered the suspension upgrade.

leafs were avail on trucks of this era as an option. few 2wd burbs had them but kind of cool if you do.
