Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
What's worse, I don't think a "brake check" would have much effect.
LOL. |
Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
No, he was really good on both pedals, kept that same distance the whole way!!!

The paint job is HORRIBLE. It has a lot of little dings. It has the super powerful 250 OCH I-6 with a 3 speed on the column! Didn't even know you could get a bird with one of those.
The good. The paint job blows (BAD - I think a blind 8 year old did it) but it was done in 1994-ish. Only 1 repaint. You can clearly see original paint in door jams, door bottoms, hood, under hood, etc. This thing is legit 98% rust free. It had a vinyl top so there's a couple spots there, and the lower rear quarters have some bubbling, but that's it. The seller put it on stands for me, there are NO HOLES, NONE, under the car. NONE. Not even pitting. That may be different when I pull the carpet, I'm sure there's at least some pitting on top. But that's why I bought it. It's a definite 20, maybe 30 footer, but and extremely solid and original one, and that's what I really wanted. I could have spent another 15-20K on a fully restored car, but I'm always afraid of ending up with an aftermarket paneled bondoed up tart. |
Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
I made this post way back in 2010 when I got my dad's old 67 to my house... and I've only managed to tear it down. It needs almost every panel and has no interior, etc. My C10, a 65 mustang, and my house renovation have gotten in the way. The mustang is "done" now, the house is months away from a legit 100% completion, and I'm building a shop. It's the right time to let my dad's car go and start fresh with one that I can actually tackle. My plan is to make it run/drive well and then go from there, interior, glass, suspension, etc all while keeping it driveable.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=401184 It looks WAY better in the pics that what it is. The floor is only the inner rockers and tunnel, etc. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1273110158 My dad actually wants it back to try and tackle it. I have actually purchased a rust free OEM front clip, doors, and decklid for it along with an aftermarket floor. My wife was reasonable with my justification, but my dad's car has to go. Apparently 4 cars for me is my limit. |
Re: I hate tailgaters!!!

Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
Does that dohc 6 have the quadrajet on it?
|
Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
No, it's not a "sprint" car. It's the base version with the single barrel.
Once I compression check it and verify the motor will run well, I'm going to buy a clifford intake and dual exahust header kit ( 3 + 3) and stuff a 4 barrel on it. The single barrel is bleeding fuel everywhere. |
Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
 Great pics Keith and Bee!
That burb looks huge! I'll bet that wasn't fun! |
Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
Glad you are going to get to a bird soon. I was wondering how bad your dad's was. Being from that part of the world we didn't inherit many vehicles from parents as they were gone way to soon due to the rust.

Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
There's a guy goes by the handle "TheSilverBuick" at V8Buick.com who made massive modifications to one of these with the six. You might want to check it out.

Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
None of the pics work for me??? Maybe I have to be a member?
There's another one, I think a 69 firebird, on Bangshift.com too that did a ton of mods. My goal for this car would be drive it as is for a few years, then either LS or Pontiac 428 - my pops has one I can get my hands on... |
Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
I'll be glad to take those wheels off your hands!;)

Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
I like 6s, especially the old OHC one yours has. They respond well to some upgrades. I am assuming with the 3 speed on column it is not the HO 4bbl 6?

Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
Cool car. You have yourself a very special segment of US auto history there you should appreciate. I have a lot of respect for the OHC6 and so do many others. I see them as what makes GM so much cooler than the others. They are the innovators not afraid to stick their neck out and try a new thing... or often what others are doing around the world. Delorian's hands are on those engines

Re: I hate tailgaters!!!
I miss my 67. Sold it to my brother for $1000 in 98. Had the custom interior and a 350 Chevy th350. I was moving from Cali to Conn. So away it went. I had a Camaro front clip and a M22 I was going to perpetrate like I had a Camaro. BIG DUMMY! He wrecked it like he does every car. I guess no bigge. I also miss my Chevelle and my nova and etc...
