Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Got the drivers door hung today, it closes but it sticks out to much at the bottom by the cab corner and I can't seem to adjust it in. You also have to slam it because of the weather stripping I put on hopefully that will break in. Here's some pics of me installing it:

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
I spent most of the day hanging the passenger side door and aligning it. What a pain, but I finally got it aligned and closing good. Then I hung the passenger side fender and that's where the problems started for some reason the fender stuck out about a 1/4 inch from the door. So after a ton of messing with it I finally put washers on the hinges of the door to space the front of the door out. Lines up perfect now, or well as perfect as these trucks are...Also put in the vent windows, door windows and all new weather stripping/felt. Here's some pics:

Pulled an all nighter last Friday-Saturday on the exhaust system and just about anything else that was left to do...

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Here's a video of the exhaust and start up! We bought mandrel bent U bends and used a flowmaster muffler for the exhaust. It comes off the headers and Y's together into a 3" pipe that goes though the rear cross member and into the 3" in on the muffler. Then it comes out as two 2 1/4'' pipes that run out to that back tucked up under the bumper.

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
First time its moved under it's own power since the restoration! I couldn't figure out why it was running so bad for a long time until I realized that I connected the left oxygen sensor to the right wiring harness and vica vera. Here's a video of me moving it out of the garage right after we got the exhaust done.

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
First test drive video!
Today I got the proportioning valve reset and bled the front brakes again to see if they would start working and now I only have front brakes for some reason so not sure if the shuttle valve moved back and shut off the rear brakes or what but now it will easily burn the rear tires!! |
