La Crosse- 1960 GMC Custom

Thanks to dtkarst we now have another project!! It's a 1960 GMC with the 305 and 4 speed.
I decided to name it La Crosse because that is where it is from and says it on the front bumper.
We have to many trucks apart to restore at the moment so we are going to make it a driver.
Today I power washed it inside and out and we got it running for the first time in 20+years.

Sweet! Are you sure it's 60-62? I though they were 60-61 gmc only because in 62 the hood changed. I could be be wrong but just what i thought.

I thought it was 60-61 as well but another member said that it was in the 1962 gmc accessory catalog and I pulled this one off of a 63.

A battery, a gas line to a gas can and some gas down the carb. It ran good but was not able to run it long because the water pump is bad.

Yeah I really like the hood ornament. I already have a used water pump and have not looked for a new one so I'm not sure.

Well we have been driving the truck for the last few months (Short trips close to home). It drove okay but it needed new shocks and the front suspension needed rebuilt. About a month ago it blew out the radiator and the antifreeze had oil in it so we decided that we needed to swap the motor and while we had it apart we would swap in a automatic transmission, 1977 Chevy front suspension, 1977 Chevy rear axle and lower the truck a little.

Pics after we pulled the motor, front suspension, and with the 77 front suspension bolted in.
